Tobeabletoadvisethepatientonsuitabletherapies,thephysicianneedstoknowthesites,extentandseverityofthepsoriasis
Treatmentmaydependonthepatient’sage,sex,occupation,personality,generalhealth,understandingandresources
Mostpatientswithmildormoderateplaquepsoriasiscanbetreatedinprimarycareusingtopicaltherapies
Ifthedecisionismadetorefer(see‘referral’)treatmentshouldusuallybeinitiatedwhileawaitingaclinicappointment
Mostpatientswithuncomplicatedpsoriasiswillonlyrequirereferralintheinstanceoftreatmentfailure
